Well, this is it. I'm going full vegan tomorrow (and staying that way this time!) I'm breaking up with meat, dairy and sugar. I'm nervous and excited. I'm reading Alicia Silverstone's book,
The Kind Diet. I like the idea of eating naturally. There are a lot of yummy sounding recipes that I'll be trying out. Gotta find some unusual foods (to me anyway) so we'll see how it goes. She uses a lot of soy products, which I'm avoiding, but I think I can make it work. She gives a good argument on why to give up animal products and by-products. I think I'll even par down the amount of meat products I cook for Tyler while Gabe's gone. I'm eager to check out the little community market downtown.
Also starting tomorrow is Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred. Ack. I'm excited because it's about a 25 minute workout which I can easily do every day. Ideally, I'd like to lose about 15 lbs while Gabe is gone, but I'm shooting for more. It may be slightly unrealistic, but for the first time ever, I'm scheduling my life to revolve around me first. I don't have any company coming during this patrol, which is actually going to work in my favor. No distractions or interruptions. Tyler starts Pre-K on August 12th. I'm excited and nervous. Another bittersweet moment for mom. It's good though.
I'll keep everyone updated on how it's going.. Thank you Tyler for taking my picture!

Did you like the book? I just made the sweet potato and lentil soup last night--haven't tasted it yet, though. I'm also thinking about doing the 30 day shred but am afraid.
I thinking very seriously about going vegan, or at least cutting my meat consumption down drastically. I'd love to get my boys into more vegan foods as well.
I loved the book! I keep going back and rereading chapters to stay inspired. I've got a long list of healthy foods I've got to find now.
With Gabe being gone, it'll be super easy to go vegan with Tyler.. I picked up a new cookbook, The 30 Minute Vegan. I'll post any tasty recipes I make!!
I'm about to do my first workout.. EEK!
WOOHOO! Good for you! You def won't regret it! :)
